More Likely Upset?
April 22, 2014
The Pacers, first off, have struggled mightily over the past two months and have shown no consistent signs of resolve. However, considering they are playing against a relatively substandard opponent like the Hawks – though Atlanta presents distinct challenges to a slow-footed defensive backcourt – it would be astonishing if Indiana didn’t advance.
The Thunder, on the other hand, are still viewed as elite and feature arguably the most explosive tandem in the NBA. Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook – as demonstrated two seasons ago when they led OKC to the Finals – are more than capable of carrying the Thunder regardless of opponent and circumstances.
However, Memphis is such a difficult matchup and have already proven it can eliminate OKC. Last season, the Grizzlies knocked off the Thunder in the conference semifinals in five games. Marc Gasol and Zach Randolph are such a load against OKC’s frontline.
